Teens attend a safe, day program incorporating education and therapy
Specialized Support for Your Teen
Destinations provides a full-day, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). When you apply for treatment at one of our facilities, our team will work with you to determine whether your teen belongs in our mental health or dual diagnosis treatment track. The latter combines mental health and addiction treatment, as researchers estimate that between 50-90% of adolescents in treatment for substance-use disorders also have diagnosable mental health issues.

Healing Through Treatment
Teens in our PHP program will attend multiple therapy sessions – group, individual, and creative – while parents are strongly encouraged to participate in family sessions. Our staff provides daily breakfast, lunch and nutrition breaks. Your teen will meet with our pediatric psychiatrist every other week or more often if clinically indicated, and nursing staff is on hand from 8 am to 8 pm daily. We integrate the 12-steps into our overall PHP, and have certified alcohol and drug counselors working with teens individually 1-2 times per week.
A Commitment to Education
Like our Residential Program, there is a strong academic component for teens in day treatment. Each student will receive three hours of educational classwork, five days per week. Our academic team will assist your teen in catching up, staying on track, and moving ahead with their education. Upon completion of the program, we will work with your teen’s school to ensure a successful transition back into the classroom.

Alumni Support
Much of our success is attributed to the support clients receive from our alumni. Teens in the program meet with our alumni group once per week. These meetings allow teens in treatment to see how others have learned to cope with mental health and addiction disorders. Once a teen transitions into the alumni stage he or she has learned how to maintain sobriety, but still has a strong support system to lean on moving forward.
Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is a critical component to our programs. During your orientation, you will meet the entire treatment team, including the individual and family therapist, education director, nurse and the clinical director, in order for you to understand their individual roles and how each of them will interact with you and your teen. We require parents to attend therapy sessions and family education classes, and we will work with you to create a schedule for therapeutic visits that will help your teen adjust to his or her new lifestyle.
Recovery requires patience, but together, through a shared commitment to your teen’s health, we will make your family whole again.
